PEACE, LOVE AND CHRISTMAS….

I love this time of year-Christmas!  It seems as though the year has passed so very quickly.  We have decorated some with the tree and wreaths up.  The bottom half of my tree had all the ornaments on it as Kolby and Anna Laura decorated at their level.  I did finally get to put some up top, as they allowed me to help.  Now, little Chance will not keep taking the ornaments off, glad all the “breakaful” ones are put up high.  Don’t you love the phrase “breakaful”, that is what my little ones have said for years!

I have sewn a few Christmas shirts this week.  I’ve made Kolby and Chance matching shirts with gift boxes and their monogram inside.  Kirby picked this design out.  It sewed out really cute and you can easily change the fabric to match a desired pattern.  I’ve also made for a friend “peace, love and gifts”.  It was a simple design, but really cute.

I am hoping that as you read this, you celebrate the real reason of Christmas—Jesus Christ.  It is not about Santa, reindeer, and presents under the tree that sometimes makes us lose focus!  The real gift was a perfect, sinless baby being born of a virgin in Bethlehem so many nights ago.  I pray that as you celebrate this Christmas, you would know for sure that you have the greatest gift available to all mankind-Salvation through Jesus Christ.  After all,  HE is the reason for the season!!

Birds of a feather….

Do they really flock together?  This is a camouflage  appliquéd turkey that was designed for a little boy named Sam.  Per request, his body was made in orange and his feathers were made using different camouflage fabric.  He is just sew cute, don’t you think.  This is great not only for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, but also hunting season.  It really is just “all boy”.  My son advised me that I had to make him one so he could wear it hunting.

Speaking of camouflage, let’s hope your spiritual walk is not.  “ You are the light of the world-like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see.  Don’t hide your light under a basket!  Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”  Matthew 5:14-16

Who Dat?

I know this slogan is just for the New Orleans Saints, however I thought it would fit for my cute owl.  She is an appliquéd owl made with hot pink and lime green material.  This shirt was a request for a little girl who loves owls.  The mom was very specific on colors and ask for the “h” to be put on her.

I have been very busy the last two weeks.  I have sewn four shirts, embroidered two heavy jackets with names and have worked on some canvas bags for the dance studio.  I have been please so far with the exception of one shirt.  I guess I’m not perfect. LOL!  I do make mistakes!

I am glad to see “Halloween” go!  I have really come to understand this is not a very pleasant “holiday”.  I think we will start celebrating “Reformation Day on October 31” from now on.  Martin Luther posted his bold protest that launched the Reformation on “All Hallows’ Eve, October 31, 1517.  Protestant Christians have since  remembered October 31 as a major turning point in the history of the Christian Church.  A time when the Gospel of Jesus Christ once again began to shine forth in all its splendor.  Our hearts need revival now.  This world is so full of hate, violence and evil already-why celebrate a day to honor it.  Makes no sense to me personally!

Revive me O Lord, that others may see in me you!  Help me to be a vessel that is willing to be molded into more of you and less of me!  Then people will really say “WHO DAT”!

Fall in love with Fall....

Well, here at our house the nights are a little cooler and the trees are starting to show their "true colors". I thought I needed to work on a few more selections that would take us though Thanksgiving. At our home we really don't celebrate Halloween, not a very nice holiday-if you ask me. However, we celebrate with a Harvest Celebration. We are so blessed by the fruits of the land we live in. Thank you Lord from which all blessings flow! I thought about a wagon filled with a pumpkin. This design will take us through the end of November. It will be great for a girl or a boy, just change the trim. I recycled the jeans from the consignment shop and added the ruffles to match the pumpkin. I thought it was "sew cute". If you have an ideal that you would like to see come to life, just contact me and I'll sew it out for you. Remember, we can always "turn over a new leaf", but it is Jesus Christ who makes us a new creation!

If the shoe fits.....

I have been sewing today. I actually did two shirts today while all my children took a well needed nap. It was so nice and quiet-I just had to sew. I was asked the other day if I had any Halloween things in the making. I thought we'll I better get busy, can't wait till the last minute. I made this pattern on a black t-shirt. It is with witch feet with the saying "if the shoe fits...." Too cute if you ask me! How many times do we really "wear these shoes"? Hope not many times as everyday people are looking at us to know if we say we are different (Christians) then we better act different. Hope you enjoy this design. If you would like something that is just "FALL" then let me know and we'll find the perfect design. I can also do treat bags with canvas. Great not to have to store a big pumpkin basket or other large item, and we can personalize it to your liking. Costumes are coming soon, I hope. Just need to sew every night for about 3 hours, but really prefer sleeping instead. Good night!

Wild, Wild West!

It has been so long since I have blogged about sewing. My machine has been in the shop for 4 weeks! That is a long time!! So, no sewing for me. However, got it back 2 days ago and I have made 2 shirts. The designs are Cowboy and Cowgirl. Anna Laura and Kolby picked these out online.
Anna Laura's shirt is cowgirl boots which is appliqued. It can be made for girls or boys depending on the fabric choice. She now states she "needs pink cowgirl boots". She has already asked her Granny for them. LOL! This design can be made in 4x4 or 5x7 and wording can be changed as well.
Kolby's shirt is a pair of guns appliqued. This would be cute for any western theme outfit or party shirt. The material used for the guns was a metallic silver, making them more realistic looking. The handles were made with cow print, which could be changed to any material, depending on your desire. This design could be made in 4x4 or 5x7 and wording can be changed as well.

Now, get to work on one for Chance. I'll post that one soon. Hope you enjoyed the shirts. These designs can be put on a variety of items. If you are interested in any cowboy theme item, let me know how I can help make it "SEW CUTE".

Cheerleader bag with pom-poms

My first Cheerleader bag! What do you think? I made this for a little girl who is a cheerleader for a local private school. Her mom liked my ballet bag as previously posted, but requested a cheer bag. Well, what would replace the tulle from the ballet bag was the question? I purchased this material from our local fabric stop, it has a metallic finish which reminded me of pom-poms and it doesn't fray or ravel when cut. Little did I know, that many hours of hand sorting and sewing would go into this bag-it will be an original! HA! Too much time involved for such a small bag. However, I thought it turned out really cute. The pom-poms remind me of the real things. The applique was a metallic megaphone monogrammed with the school initials and the back was the name of the little girl.

Ballet Bag

Anna Laura is so excited about ballet. We sign up for registration on August 6, 2010 here in Laurel. She will be taking ballet and tap. She asks daily "how many more days momma"? Summer laziness will soon come to an end with the start of homeschooling and all of our activities. Kolby will begin violin lessons again the end of the month as well. I have been sewing a little. I wanted to make Anna Laura a bag for her shoes and stuff for ballet. It had to be cute, functional, and just "all about ballet". Here is my first-plan to do a few more. Hope you like it!

It seems like yesterday…

The birth of a child is a life changing experience.  For me, I have been blessed three times.  God states, “ before you were formed in your mother’s womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;(Jeremiah 1:5). Even though many children born today are not “planned”, God knew exactly when you would arrive.  He has such a wonderful plan for your life “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you hope and  a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you” declares the Lord “ and will bring you back from captivity”.  (Jeremiah 29:11-14a).  Take time to enjoy a quiet moment and ask the Lord how he can use you today.  Reflect on being a mom and the gift you have been given.

This outfit is for a longtime friend whose little boy is just 3 weeks younger than Chance.  His birthday will be July 14.  She saw my pictures and requested an outfit in the same material with just different lettering.  I hope it will be a cherished item in his closet, an item that will not make its way to a rummage sale in years to come. However, I hope it will be put away when it is outgrown and maybe one day, a grandchild will be able to put it upon his body.  The great circle of life.  If we are blessed to see our children have children of their own as they mature into adults.  I hope you enjoyed this blog, it was more of an awakening instead of just about sewing.  May your troubles be less, your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door!

Happy 1st Birthday Chance!

This is the reversible Jon-jon that I made for Chance.  I embroidered “I am one” on the front and use a “1” appliqué on the reverse side in polka dot print.  This material is so cute.  It has different sayings on like, like “wonderful one, patty-a-cake, the one and only, peek-a boo i see you, giggle, soft and sweet.  Just cute sayings about your little one year old.  Can’t believe where the time has went.  I also made a bid to match, it was my first but it turned out cute. And it did it’s job-keeping him clean!! I just used the same material, batting, an old hand towel, and grosgrain ribbon.

Anna loves polka dots!

Anna loves clothes! Every time I go to the sewing machine, she asks me what are you making for me?? LOL This outfit always gets attention. She wore it to the movies yesterday, and 4 people asked “where did you get this”. Just wish I had business cards to give to these people. I came home and ordered some online. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to hand some out. This outfit is made of cotton puppy dog print material for the top and a coordinating brown/blue polka dot material for the pants. Hope you enjoy!

Chance's 1st Birthday (Coming Soon)

Good Morning! I myself can't believe I am up this early. For many of you reading this you laugh, and say what!! Remember I have a little one, who awakes many times during the night, so my sleep is really limited. Chance, my sweet little boy, is about to have his 1st Birthday in 2 more days. Where has the time went? I am trying to get together his outfit to sew as he has to look cute for pictures! As if I could make him any cuter?? That is mommy talking, can't you tell. I love my babies, even if they are getting bigger. I am going to make him a few things: Jon-Jon, bib, and a "I am 1" t-shirt. Of course it will be matching his birthday theme. Speaking of, looking for material-the new Hancock Fabrics is really nice in Hattiesburg. It has a multitude of choices. So, whatever the reason, let me sew a cute one of a kind outfit for you or yours. I will post pictures when finished to let you see the end result. Busy day and week, so off I go. Hope your day is filled with many blessings and remember to tell those you love "Just how much you do love them". Give your family a big hug and kiss when they walk in today! Jesus loves you and has such a wonderful plan for you life. Talk later!

Sewing for me is a stress reliever. I usually sew when everyone is in the bed and it is quiet. Right now, instead of sewing I am blogging about my clothing. I am hopeful of this business growing. I want to share my creative side and let others enjoy the fruit of my labor. I believe God gives us each a gift(s), and for me I am creative and very talkative. I usually never met a stranger-good and bad in some ways.
I am excited about up-cycling and using what others don't want and making it reborn. My husband asked me what reborn meant. For those of you unsure of the word-it means taking something that is used and giving it new life. Like an old pair of jeans and making them wearable again. I hope you enjoy my creations. I also do make lots of NEW things such as birthday shirts, jon-jons, dresses, pants, bloomers, pillows, and expanding to diaper bags. So hold on for the ride, hope you enjoy the pictures. If you are interested in anything you see or just have an ideal of what you would like contact me and I'll do my best to accomodate your request.
